FINE CHOCOLATE DEEP-DIVE
The evening will take you on a deep-dive tasting through the tropical rainforests of the cacao growing continents. We will begin with a tasting of chocolate from the Upper Amazon, the origin of the Theobroma Cacao tree, then travel over the Andes, through Ecuador to Central America to the cacao enjoyed by the Maya and Aztec cultures. We then follow cacao to Venezuela and on to Asia and ultimately to Africa. We will be guided through our flight tasting and the history of cacao by Kathryn Laverack and we will finish with artisan coffee from Soul Foods.
Tasting fine chocolate is an experience best shared. Not only does this session teach you to practice the art of slow tasting and to get the full flavour experience from your chocolate, it also offers a great opportunity to discover new makers and share your flavour discoveries with others.
Tickets include a guided tasting of dark and flavoured craft chocolates (all non-diary) accompanied by a Soul Foods artisan coffee.
Please notes some non-dairy bars contain nuts. Please let us know if you have any allergies prior to the event by emailing cocoaencounters@gmail.com
Spaces are limited to 20, spaces and gift vouchers are available from Soul Foods, please apply for your place to receive a payment request.
Yes, you can select the Vegan option during your booking.
All the dark bars we taste are vegan and the craft chocolate sector has some very good vegan chocolate makers who provide milk alternatives in both white and milk bars.
Allergens in vegan bars.
The vegan bars often use nuts as milk alternative and they are made in factories or kitchens that handle nuts, gluten and dairy.
Absolutely yes. I teach children in primary schools and I deliver sessions to older children and families too. Children often have very good palates and enjoy learning about where the flavours come from and where their food comes from.
