This event has been a long time in the planning, and what better way to celebrate International Women's Day than in the company of two inspiring women who champion the regional diversity of Peruvian cacao and the skill and craftsmanship required to express its extraordinary flavour potential.
For this tasting, I am delighted to have teamed up with Chocolate Seekers to curate a unique opportunity to showcase one of the most exciting and diverse fine cacao origins in the world and to introduce you to two of its protagonists:
Amanda Jo “AJ” Wildey - anthropologist, certified chocolate taster and owner of El Cacaotal - works closely with small-scale farmers and producers to promote and sell Peruvian bean-to-bar chocolate.
Vigdis Rosenkilde - CEO and founder of her award-winning chocolate brand - sources cacao directly from farmers in Peru, monitoring the entire process from plantation to factory, with production kept entirely in the country of origin.
During this two hour live online tasting, we will be introduced to ten hand-selected bars sourced from El Cacaotal including bars from makers Yuyariway, Paytiti, Ura Chocolates, Scrap & Chocolates, Pumatiy and Keshet and three Vigdis Rosenkilde bars.
We will be taken on a journey through the remarkable genetic diversity of cacao from the growing regions of VRAEM, Chuncho and Piura. Expect delicate florals, mouthwatering fruit, bold intensity, and a whole spectrum of flavour notes in between.
A tasting kit for one person featuring samples of 13 dark and flavoured bars

Time for Q&A
We are incredibly fortunate to have both AJ and Vigdis to taste with. In addition to being able to share in their experiences, hearing directly from those involved in growing, sourcing and making, adds a dimension you simply cannot get from tasting alone.
This is also a rare opportunity to explore chocolates that we have very limited access to here in the UK.
You won’t just be tasting great chocolate, you’ll be tasting comparison. You’ll experience how flavour shifts across different cacao genetics, distinct geographical regions, and different makers working with the same origin. This tasting is designed to allow you to examine side-by-side how genetics, terroir and maker style all influence the final expression in the bar.
For ten of the featured bars only a small number are available to purchase but attendees will be given first opportunity to buy them through Chocolate Seekers.
All the chocolate are non-dairy and none contain nuts but some chocolates may have been made in spaces where dairy, nuts, gluten and soy are handled. Please contact us prior to booking for further advice on allergens.
There are only 25 places available and the tasting boxes will be posted out week commencing 2nd March. The price if for one place.
Don't forget to add the postage to a UK address. Parcels will be send Royal Mail either 48hr or 24 hr tracked.
